NCEA AGRICULTURAL SCIENCE
AIM: To help students to develop an understanding of agriculture as:
· a producer of food and fibre
· a major economic industry
· an applied science,
and achieve personal satisfaction through learning and accomplishment.
OBJECTIVES
On completion of the course students should have:
1 a knowledge of basic agricultural facts and principles
2 a greater understanding of the interaction between people, soils, plants and animals in Agricultural production
3 developed information skills appropriate to Agriculture, the recording of information, the construction and interpretation of charts and graphs, the finding of relevant information from reference sources;
4 developed the ability to apply knowledge and skills to new situations to make decisions leading to the solution of Agricultural problems;
5 undertaken experimental, project and field work relevant to local conditions
6 greater understanding of the impact of agriculture and horticulture on the environment.
7 a knowledge of the range of vocational and recreational opportunities through a variety of Agricultural experiences.
