Prepare a garden for planting 2. Use, clean and maintain tools correctly. 3. Carryout a range of gardening skills. 4. Plant seeds and seedlings. 5. Maintain a garden free of weeds etc. 6. Understand the various factors needed by plants for successful growth. 7. Grow healthy plants. An Introduction to Agriculture Objectives Show how the characteristics of New Zealand land and climate; determine what agricultural and horticultural crops are grown. Examine the main agricultural and horticultural products of New Zealand. Look at NZ’s agricultural history and what may happen in the future. Growing Plants Objectives To examine plant structure. To plant and grow seeds. An Introduction to Sheep farming Objectives Identify the main sheep breeds. Look at the history of Sheep. Examine a calendar year for sheep farming. How wool has become such an important fibre. Danger - Animal health: Foot and mouth. An Introduction to Dairy farming Objectives Identify the main Dairy breeds. Examine a calendar year for dairy farming. Experiment with milk and its products. The future of dairying. Dairy breeding. Technology and farming.
